Drawn with colored pencil on tempera paint, these studies are my interpretation of a prompt attributed to the 20th C. painter and educator Hans Hofmann. I divide the composition into four quadrants, and in each quadrant place a point, line, and plane, with the aim of creating movement and space in a playful composition. I made these drawings in the first few months of the pandemic, as a meditation and a way of finding order in a chaotic time.
